UNR Grizzlies recovered from a shaky league start with a stunning 50-5 home victory over Puma on Sunday.

National Universty of Rwanda side produced one of their best performances in a long time to see off their hapless visitors.

Grizzlies’ captain Francis Mugisha was in peak form as he single handedly tore the opposition defense apart.

Jean de Dieu Shema, Coko Cambara and Joel Shimo made eight tries amongst themselves while Janvier Ngirinhsuti made five conversions to gift the Butare outfit their first victory of the 2008 Super League.

Sunday’s performance was a good comeback for Grizzlies after their 32-77 loss to Buffalos two weeks ago and Grizzlies coach player Joseph Bugabo has warned rivals to be ware.

"On a whole, I think Grizzlies were a better side today but Puma is not a weak side though," Bugabo reckoned.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Gorillas opened their title defense in solid form after a 48 to nothing defeat over Sharks.

Else where, Buffalo and Tigers also registered their second league victories after earning default points from Lion de Fers and Simba respectively.
