A few weeks ago, on one of my visits abroad, I was invited to a house warming party by a friend of mine. We went to this house owned by a very pleasant young couple full of life. We got to our destination and were very amused when I saw a gate that resembles a clock.

"This is something unique. I have not seen this anywhere else,” I said to my friend.
We entered this beautiful home and what struck me was the craze for clocks this couple has. I could see that clocks dominated the interior of this particular home, and I must say-the home had an old welcoming Victorian feel. As we were milling around with some new and old friends, some of us were enchanted by the interior décor of this home which had a clock theme, while others had something totally different in their minds.
As much as some people might not be aware is that; when clocks were made they were supposed to be a home decorating accessory at the same time a functional item in guiding us on the time. One thing I like about the clocks is that when you incorporate a clock in your interior décor- then you have no worries because they add a finishing touch to any décor. The fact that the clocks come in different shapes and sizes makes it all the better, because you can match each shape according to the theme of each individual room.
Forget about these funny and cheap clocks that have managed to surface
everywhere. When clocks were first made, clock makers focused their attentions on creating grand pieces. In fact, homes that displayed grand clocks were considered to be of high class, which was true because these clocks did not come cheaply. Clocks have become such an integral part of interior décor in many homes, that it has become almost must have accessory when planning for your interior decor. Clocks provide a room with interesting shapes and idiosyncrasies. Savvy decorators can find these treasures at antique shops, auctions or flea markets and many of the second hand clocks are antiques and still work.
Most of the interior decorating relies on following the rules of interior design, which ensure that a display is interesting, symmetrical and balanced. However, in the special case of antique clocks, they replace traditional artwork as the primary focus of the display in a home.
There are many clocks to choose from depending on the availability, the price, the taste of the buyer and also where the clock
is going to be placed. For example the grandfather clock is better placed in a crowning spot which means that they are perfect centre pieces, which will set the tone for the rest of the wood furnishings, hardware and decorative items throughout the house. On the other hand wall clocks work well in small spaces where they can blend and unite a room décor; while cock clocks are better suited in children rooms.
One thing is to remember is that when planning to use clocks as the main accessories in your interior décor, make sure you have chosen the right wall colour, design and shape to pull the display together, so as to get their intense presence that has an impact on the world of interior design.
