Rwanda FA’s decision to reschedule Intare’s Peace Cup round of 16 second leg match against Rayon Sports didn’t go well with the second division side.

All Peace Cup quarter final fixtures take place on Wednesday, April 5, except Police FC who will play either Intare FC or Rayon Sports whose round of 16 second leg has been delayed.

Rayon beat Intare 2-1 in the first leg of the round of 16 but the latter has been avoiding to play the second leg since Rayon announced their withdrawal from the Peace Cup on March 8.

Blues were at the time on their way to Bugesera Stadium for the match when football governing body (Ferwafa) informed the club management that their match was rescheduled to Friday, March 10, same venue in a late communication that club president Jean Fidèle Uwayezu described as ‘beyond imagination’.

The club later made a U-turn on the tournament withdrawal two days later and returned to the tournament after the federation agreed to push the match to a later date.

The decision shocked the APR academy team which insists they should have qualified to the Peace Cup quarter finals the day Rayon failed to show up on the pitch on March 10.

The federation tried to summon both clubs to agree on the date when the match would be rescheduled but Intare snubbed the meetings until Monday when the Ferwafa’s appeals committee informed both clubs that they have to play the return leg on a yet to be confirmed date.

Commenting on the decision, club Secretary General Philbert Hagengimana told Times Sport that they could consider filing another appeal after they were not satisfied with the appeals committee’s decision.

"Our position has not changed; we still have 48 hours to re-appeal,” Hagengimana said.

"We will sit down as a club and see what we can do next. We may decide to appeal or not but our understanding is that Ferwafa didn’t refer to any rules and regulations while taking that decision,” he added.

The date for the return leg match between the two sides will be announced in due course.
