MILUTIN Micho has trashed talk that Rwanda are now title favourites despite Tuesday’s comprehensive win over  Zimbabwe in the on-going Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup.

Amavubi have made a rampant start to their campaign, winning their opening two games to race to the top of Group A with six points.

The 1999 champions made a bold statement to their title rivals as they raced into the last eight of the competition with a remarkable 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe’s warriors at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

While the result could prove another notable landmark in Amavubi’s seemingly unstoppable march towards their first title in over a decade, Micho is keen to play down expectations.

The Serbian said: "I think there are four or five teams that can win the title in the end. These are early days and it would be wrong to make conclusions after two matches.”

 "I am happy with the results but our performance is still wanting. We are trying to rebuild after a horrible 2012 Nations Cup qualifying campaign so all I can say is that there is still a lot of work to be done.”

"Of course we played much better against Zimbabwe compared to our first game against Tanzania but we need to keep those performances going because when you play well, you build confidence,” he added during an interview with BBC.

Micho also hailed Meddie Kagere for his impact since his Amavubi debut. The striker, who made his maiden appearance during Rwanda’s final 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in Porto Novo where he scored the only goal of the match, was the hero against Zimbabwe.

The Police FC striker scored a brace to take his tally to three goals in five matches.

Rwanda will now wind up their Group campaign this Friday with a tie against minnows Djibouti.
