THE National Athletics Federation (RAF) has lauded Robert Kajuga and Jean Pierre Mvuyekure for a fine display in the MTN Kampala Marathon. Kajuga claimed a podium slot after finishing second to Kenya’s Seren Onesmus in the 21km half marathon after using 1 hour, 5 minutes and 20 seconds while Mvuyekure finished fifth in the full marathon (42km) which was won by James Karuki of Kenya.

Kajuga claimed a podium slot after finishing second to Kenya’s Seren Onesmus in the 21km half marathon after using 1 hour, 5 minutes and 20 seconds while Mvuyekure finished fifth in the full marathon (42km) which was won by James Karuki of Kenya.
For RAF president Louis Rurangirwa, the performance is testament of a promising future in the sport.
"A lot of people were beginning to wonder if there is life after Dieudonne Disi and I’m sure they got their answer,” Rurangirwa said.
Kajuga, who pocketed Rwf 0.7m for his heroics, has now set his sights at next year’s London Games.
"My target now is to compete in the London Olympic Games but to do that, I need to qualify,” the 25-year-old said.
Uganda’s Dorcus Inzikuru won the women’s half marathon.
