Members of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) in Rwamagana District will benefit from a skills development programme after the district entered a deal with the business community umbrella.

The agreement was signed yesterday by Mayor, Nehemie Uwimana and  PSF representative in the district, Jean Baptiste Murenzi.

It will see the business community facilitated in vocational training and skill development, according to the signatories.

The PSF Chairman, Faustin Mpundu, who witnessed the signing, said that the overall aim was to decentralise PSF activities.

"Our ultimate aim is to uplift trade and development, job creation and self employment...,” Mbundu told hundreds of cheering traders.

Mbundu assured traders in the Eastern Province that PSF will help them acquire ICT skills.

"We are going to help train all of you in formulating business plans, declaration of taxes, bank transactions, etc using modern technology.”

Mayor Uwimana, said that the district was excited about the partnership.

"The business community forms one of our main partners in development...so, signing an agreement of this nature, makes a lot of sense,” he said, stressing the importance of trade and investment to sustainable development.

Jean Baptiste Murenzi, PSF chairman in the district said that the agreement was long overdue.

"We were working in a disorganised manner...we shifted blame whenever things went wrong between the district and investors. There is no doubt that the pact will work for the development of the district,” he said.
