President Paul Kagame on Thursday, August 25, started his four day citizen outreach tour in Southern and Western provinces, as the country experiences steady recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The programme which sees the President visiting different districts and interacting with citizens, had been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and had last occurred in 2019.

During the tour that ran until Sunday, Kagame visited Ruhango, Nyamasheke, Nyamagabe and Karongi districts, having interactions with ordinary citizens, some who even raised issues of injustice for which they sought his intervention.

Kagame also honoured an invitation of 110-year-old Rachel Nyiramandwa, who had requested him to visit her at her home in Nyamagabe District on August 26.

It is their fourth meeting since 2010 presidential campaigns.

The citizen outreach programme ended on Sunday with the President visiting Karongi District where he toured the Rugabano Tea Factory which has the capacity to process 1,000,000 kilogrammes of tea per year.

He also made a surprise stop in Nyabugogo, the country’s busiest neighbourhood to greet excited residents as he drove back from the tour.

Below are some of the moments that were captured on camera during the four-day tour.
