Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Frank Mugambage, has called on youth to embrace moral values aimed at forming a visionary and dignified generation.

The envoy made the remarks during a get-together ceremony the High Commission organized for Rwandan student leaders from various universities in Uganda.

"Dignity comes from the value you give yourself, and the good name Rwanda has today is because of the value and right actions of its people,” Mugambage told the students who had gathered at the High Commission in Kampala.

He urged them to jealously guard their culture, adding that Rwanda’s history has a lot of lessons why unity should be promoted.

Flanked by Faith Bakuru, the Patron of Makerere University Banyarwanda Students’ Association, Mugambage called on the students to enhance the culture of dialogue through modern systems of communication like social media networks.

Bakuru advised the students to desist from divisionism and promote unity.

Nkusi Gatete, the President of the Inter University Banyarwanda Students’ Association, also urged his counterparts to attach great pride to their culture.

"You should be proud of how God created you – because when you hide yourself, you will have lost a sense of belonging,” Gatete said.

John Ngarambe, the First Secretary at the Rwanda High Commission in Uganda, said the students’ get-together dialogue will be held annually.
