Bank of Kigali’s focus on SMEs will certainly give the sector the much needed fillip to access credit under favourable terms. This has been possible due to the ten year line of credit extended by the African Development Bank to the former.
The Credit Reference Bureau, together with all banks and other lending institutions also need to update records and credit history of borrowers regularly, so that bad debts are kept to the minimum.
SMEs form an important segment of the Rwandan economy .The manufacturing, construction, agri-business and tourism sectors that were identified for funding will definitely go a long way in boosting the economic outlook of the country.
