Staff members of Kigali Health Institute (KHI) have agreed to work closely as a team to improve the quality of education and develop the institute into an exemplary and outstanding healthcare training facility.
The resolve was made during a two-day senior manager’s retreat called to discuss how to make a difference in the institute’s educational standards.
During his closing remarks Thursday, Dr. Emmanuel Gasakure, the chairman of the Board of Directors, commended KHI’s administration and requested them to maintain cooperation to ensure the institute maintains its impressive reputation.
"As we strive to achieve our goals, it is vital to develop the culture of ownership while sharing our action plans with our developmental partners,” he said.
The retreat also resolved to strengthen time management and effective communication.
It was agreed that as one of the collaborative endeavours, students will also be involved in the evaluation of module delivery by lecturers.
KHI’s Rector, Dr Chantal Kabagabo, acknowledged that it was important to jointly discuss ways to drive the institute to greater heights.
"By empowering healthcare personnel through offering improved quality training, we shall absolutely achieve the strategic goals,” she said.
KHI was this year named best healthcare educational institute in Africa and will next month be honoured with the Le Matinal Educational Excellence Award at Sugar Beach resorts in Mauritius.
The award is the highest honour to individuals and institutions that have surpassed several levels of excellence and emerged role models of exemplary leadership.
