The local volleyball governing body (FRVB) is searching for two coaches to handle the national junior boys’ and girls’ teams ahead of this year’s African junior volleyball championships.
The federation’s executive secretary Gertrude Kubwimana yesterday said that the teams don’t have coaches.
"Jouault Gerard is handling the senior team and his assistant Emmanuel Ndungutse is in Switzerland to attend a two-months coaching course under the International Olympics Solidarity, IOC, and RNOC, Rwanda National Olympics Committee so we need coaches to handle the junior sides,” Kubwimana said.
The junior teams will regroup on April 15 immediately after the national mourning period that winds up on April 14.
"The juniors will regroup from April 15-25 and we hope that by that time, we shall have found the best people to handle them,” the federation official continued.
Rwanda is one of the countries lined up for the African championship whose date and venue is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the national volleyball championship will not start until May 3.
"Most of the championship clubs are made up of secondary school players who are now on holiday so the league will only resume when the students return to school,” a close source to the federation noted.
