Discipline errant traders

Editor,

While the government’s move to regulate sugar prices appeared to be a benevolent act, some traders continue to dupe consumers by hiking prices.

This state of affairs arises because most consumers are not aware of the fixed price.  Last week, I bought a kilogramme of sugar at Rwf1,300 in Remera, Kicukiro District, which should not be the case as the government has fixed sugar prices at Rwf800. In some shops, a kilogramme goes for Rwf 1,000 or Rwf 1,200. It’s therefore important that authorities take action against such rogue traders.
