At the beginning of my A’ level studies at my school, I always believed in myself and I knew that I can achieve anything without anybody’s help. I used to study alone and kept everything to myself while other fellows were engaged in group discussions.

I continued like this for a while but later things came to a dead end when some subjects became complicated and I could not understand nor explain the content to myself. From that moment I started getting low grades while those in groups were doing better than me this time.
It took me long to accept the reality that I could not understand everything by myself and realized that it would be better if I join a group. When I joined a group, the leader taught me many things that I still consider to this day as the key to my academic excellence.
He told us that, ‘coming together is a beginning, keeping together is a progress and working together is success.’ He continued saying that it takes a team to achieve a dream and that we should remember that within a group we are not meant to compete with one another rather, we had come to complete with one another.
Days went by and my grades started to improve—all this was because I joined the group and I have realized that we should not only use all the brains that we have but all that we borrow.
One day our group leader reminded us that if a group or a team is to reach its potential, each member must be willing to place aside personal and selfish goals for the good of the team.
And now my basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy, you don’t make them because they are high, you don’t make them because they are popular rather you make them because they are right.
It marks a big step in your development when you come to realize that other people can help you do a better job than you could do alone.
So dear students if you want to achieve your goal and want to meet your academic excellence you must work as a group or a team because team work gives you the best opportunity to turn vision into reality.
