Marines 2-0 Nyanza
MEDDIE Kagere scored a brace yesterday to send Police to the top of the Primus League table.
The striker, who has become a regular for Amavubi, opened the scoring in the 15th minute after beating two La Jeunesse defenders and rounding off the goalkeeper in front of a packed Mumena stadium.
Kagere doubled the lead 15 minutes into the second half from the spot following a foul on Abdul Karim Gashugi in the 18-yard box.
Kagere is now the leading goalscorer with six goals, one clear of Etincelles’ striker Slyva Ochaya. The APR pair of Olivier Karekezi and Dan Wagaluka follows with three goals each.
Despite being on level points (15) with Etincelles, Police are the leaders on goal difference.
At Kigali Regional Stadium, Rayon labored to a 1-0 win over Espoir. Titi Tumaine scored the winner on the 20th minute before limping off because of an ankle injury. The win left the blues on level points (14) with defending champions APR and Mukura.
Marines climbed into 9th place after yesterday’s convincing 2-0 victory over Nyanza at Umuganda stadium.
The defeat left Nyanza stuck in the relegation zone with a paltry three points.
On Saturday, APR dropped more points following their 1-all draw with Etincelles. Selemani Ndikumana equalised for the champions after Udaru Mudahemuka had given the Western Province side the lead.
In other matches, AS Kigali ended their winless run after beating SC Kiyovu 1-0, while Mukura had Gad Mwizerwa to thank for a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Amagaju at Kamena stadium.
