Bourbon Coffee received an award at the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Washington DC in recognition to its business principles of promoting "self-help and social responsibility”.

The event was sponsored by The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation and Operation HOPE. It’s main aim was to spotlight the efforts of African Entrepreneurs and shine light on their success stories as they build a bridge of hope, opportunity and prosperity from the United States to Africa.

During the event, Rwanda’s Ambassador, James Kimonyo, highlighted Bourbon Coffee’s philosophy known as "from crop to cup” as the one that enables the company to produce quality coffee.

"The brand ‘Bourbon Coffee’ was created not only to put Rwandan Coffee on the glare of publicity, but also to directly impact the value equation for coffee farmers in Africa,” Kimonyo emphasized while addressing the event that attracted amongst others, Washington’s Director of African Affairs, Ngozi Nmezi, and State Director of the USA Entrepreneurship, Johnetta Hard.

Bourbon Coffee operates three coffee shops and restaurants in Kigali located at the UTC building in the city centre, at the MTN Centre in Nyarutarama and at Kigali International Airport. It also wants to open a coffee shop in the yet to be opened Kigali City Tower.
