Minaloc bids farewell to Kirabo

The Ministry of local Government, Friday evening, bid farewell to Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira the outgoing Governor of the Eastern Province who was last month named as the Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General for UN-HABITAT. At the same colourful function, the ministry welcomed Odette Uwamariya, the incoming Governor of the Eastern Province.

The Ministry of local Government, Friday evening, bid farewell to Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira the outgoing Governor of the Eastern Province who was last month named as the Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General for UN-HABITAT.

At the same colourful function, the ministry welcomed Odette Uwamariya, the incoming Governor of the Eastern Province.

Speaking at the event, Kirabo thanked the ministry for recognizing her work and bidding her farewell.

"I am so excited and I thank the ministry and the people of the Eastern Province I worked with for the last eight months for their great partnership and support,” she said.

Kirabo stated that she will continue representing Rwanda in her new post.

"I will always miss your teamwork spirit in the development of our country but I am not worried at all because I will always keep in touch with you wherever I will be,” she said.

Kirabo further called upon women to be effective leaders whenever they attain leadership in society.

She also highlighted how she managed to scoop the top UN job through a tight competition from others who wanted that position as well, adding that it was God’s mercy which enabled her to emerge victorious.

On her part, Uwamariya pledged to continue in Kirabo’s footsteps towards achieving development in the Eastern Province.

"I thank the government o for putting much trust in me. I promise to work together with the people in my province so as to achieve our set targets,” she said.

James Musoni, the Minister of Local Government, hailed Dr.Kirabo Kacyira for her tireless work combined with brilliance in spearheading economic and social developments in the Eastern Province and Kigali city.

"We wish you all the best in your new posting and we shall always support you whenever you need our support,” he told Dr. Kacyira.

"We welcome the new Governor, and we have confidence in her that she will contribute towards the development of the Eastern Province and Rwanda in general,” he said.

The event was attended by, among others, members of the Senate, chamber of deputies, business community and the local government family.
