Steps to a successful end of year review in business

Most companies are now in a mad rush to balance their books and review the business before they close down for the holidays. Unfortunately, when reviewing our businesses, most of us focus on the negatives and what went wrong during the year, instead of focusing on the little good things that happened; we focus on the negatives- not knowing that when we focus on the negatives, we make the growth of our business much more difficult than it needs to be.

Most companies are now in a mad rush to balance their books and review the business before they close down
for the holidays. Unfortunately, when reviewing our businesses, most of us focus on the negatives and what
went wrong during the year, instead of focusing on the little good things that happened; we focus on the
negatives- not knowing that when we focus on the negatives, we make the growth of our business much more
difficult than it needs to be.

Once in a while, when reviewing the business during the year, it is encouraged to look back and appreciate
the little steps that the company has made and start making plans for the future with positives.

Here are a few tips for objectively analyzing your business:

Review your goals of the year

Most of us create a list of the goals that we want to accomplish every beginning of the year, but rarely do
we follow everything on the wish list. Take a look at your list and check off any goals that you've
completed. With each goal jot down exactly which steps you took to get there and how you feel about the
results you created. Whatever project that was not completed or undertaken during that year, can always be
pushed forward with the aim of completing them.

Take note of any other major accomplishments you made during the year and make up for the losses

Giving oneself a pat on the back for any major accomplishments during the year is commendable. It is not
always that we succeed in things we plan for. These are things worthy to be jotted down on how you arrived
to your successful destination, so that the following year you can work with even better plans for better
results. Also, just because some plans dint work that year, does not mean that they will never work again.
Scrutinise the plans that dint work, and you will get the reason of why they dint work, and you will get
what you have been looking for-the answers.

Recognise the efforts of your partners, colleagues and employees

No man is an island of himself; just the same way no single person can be the entire success of a company.
Whether it’s the receptionist, the cleaner, the messenger or the sales and marketing team. Everybody in the
company plays a big a role in the success of the company. Therefore, it is only fair if the entire team can
be congratulated on their successes and corrected where they went wrong. Sharing on how far you've come during the year can help reinforce that you've completed a job well done. People who are appreciated tend
to perform even better, at every given opportunity.

There has never been a hundred percent score in any business; that is why it is important that every
company should have an end of the year review session, to forge forward for better results come the
following year.
