What foreign political party leaders said during RPF Congress

Over the weekend, the Rwanda Patriotic Font (RPF) held the 16th International and National Congress, and celebrations for its 35th Anniversary, where several international delegates and representatives of different political parties passed on key messages to the RPF and Rwandans.

Below are excerpts of key messages.

Roque Silva, Secretary General of Frelimo (Liberation Front of Mozambique)

The parties that led countries to liberation have to bear in mind the continuity of developing internal trust and strengthening institutions because without them, corruption will be a destabilizing factor.

The lack of capacity to pass on history to new generations is a great challenge of the future but we should not lose sight of the danger of external interests because our continent offers great opportunities in terms of development.

Peter Lam Both, Secretary General, SPLM, South Sudan

My party and RPF are revolutionary movements born on a philosophy that aims at bringing about the transformation and prosperity of our people.

We believe that African leadership must take responsibility to address our problems even as we seek partnerships and assistance from others.

Addisu Arega Kitessa, Head of Central Committee Office, Prosperity Party of Ethiopia

On behalf of the leadership and membership of the Prosperity Party and myself, I'm really honored to convey my message of solidarity to Rwandan patriotic front on its 16th National Congress and certificate's anniversary.

Uganda and Rwanda share a deep history of comradeship that was cemented during the liberation struggles of both our countries. The RPF has proved to the world that Africa can solve her challenges without looking on the outside.

This great nation has shown that it can rise from nothing and achieve much. We love President Paul Kagame and we are proud to partner with RPF to advance the welfare of our people. I have been here for three days and I have been fascinated by what I saw.

There is so much to show for the 35 years RPF has been in existence. We want to also thank Rwanda for supporting our candidate for EALA leadership.

It is possible that our sister countries work together towards sustainable development and good relationships.

The bilateral ties between Tanzania and Rwanda are mainly bolstered by the economic infrastructure we share. They are growing because of the peace and security ushered in by RPF.

Rwanda has come from far and thanks to your leadership, the transformation is visible for everyone. I also want to, on behalf of my people, thank you for restoring peace in my country. Africa is proud of you.

Africa observes in admiration the political stability obtained thanks to the good leadership under President Paul Kagame that entails good governance, economic reforms, and the level of sustained growth.
