Allow me to commend the national team, Amavubi Stars, for trouncing the Red Sea Boys 3-1, in their first home win in a competitive game for some time now. The victory is not just a good start for the new coach, Srededojevi Milutin Micho, but also a boost it for the confidence of the national squad and the fans.

Having watched the game, I now think that Amavubi has the ability to give a shot at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, or at least to qualify for the next Nations Cup. I am not just being optimistic, but the reality is that anything can happen in football. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if Amavubi Stars went on to beat their next opponents: Benin, Algeria and Mali.

With the right attitude and determination, our team has the capacity to upset even the mightiest of world football. We just need to cast our support behind the team and the coaching staff. It is also wise to mix experienced and more youthful lads on the pitch.
