LET THE BEST WIN

Now is the time for high school exams all over the country. Each individual is trying his or her best to get the best possible grades, so that they can find a seat in a good professional college or university. Right here in Rwanda, there is lot of competition. Most of the students work hard and put in sincere effort to do well. However, some waste away their time and are not serious. When exams approach, they become scared of failing and then these students resort to two options: they pretend to be sick and start visiting hospitals with anxious parents or guardians. This gives them an excuse for performing badly in the forthcoming exams. The other option is worse than the former and it is cheating during exams. These students do not realize that unless they know the subject, they are likely to make mistakes even while cheating. Moreover, they expose themselves to the risk of getting punished or even expelled from the school. In the end, a few moments of dishonesty can ruin their entire future.

Therefore, it is better to prepare for exams with proper planning.  Even if one has wasted time before, it is better to make use of the available time in an organized way and work hard. After that, a student should face the results whatever they are.  Malingering sickness does not help since a doctor can easily detect fake sickness. At the end of the day, a student will lose their face and credibility.

The results shall be variable between different students of the same class. Results depend on the intelligence, diligence and time management of individual students. I personally tend to procrastinate a lot or get distracted easily. Those who score well, should strive to maintain their rank in future examinations, while those with lower marks should resolve to improve.

At the end of the year, students move on in different paths. They may or may not meet again in future; hence, parting ways should be with sweet friendly memories only.

The motto should be, "Let the best win”. All should respect this as they strive to make their journey in life better.
