GATSIBO–The Association of Women ex-combatants, Ndabaga Association has donated 15 Friesian cows worth Rwf 3.3 million to vulnerable groups in Rwimbogo Sector, Gatsibo District.

The cows, along with a cash donation to help take care of the cattle for the next six months, were donated to three vulnerable groups and people living with HIV/Aids.

Members of Ndabaga said that after participating in the struggle to liberate the country, they pledged to support the government in fighting poverty.

Jane Muberanyana, the association’s coordinator, said the cows would help beneficiaries obtain manure to increase crop production as well as fight malnutrition.

"This donation is very important. We shall not stop here but will instead continue monitoring whether the cows are improving your lives,” she said.

Valentine Vungukiro, one of the beneficiaries, promised they would take good care of the animals and bequeath their calves to neighbours.

Emmanuel Bagire, a district official, thanked Ndabaga, noting that the donation was in line with the district’s goal to boost the number of livestock.

Rwimbogo is the third sector in the district to benefit from the association.
