Mater Dominique Saatenang, a French Kungfu master, has fulfilled his promise, to President Paul Kagame, of two scholarships to Rwandan students to study Kungfu in China.

Following the pledge, Pacific Mudacumura and Irené Fidele Ishimwe have been enrolled in the Shaolin Temple to study China sports medicine.

According to a statement from Rwanda’s embassy in Paris, Saatenang made the pledge to President Kagame during the Rwanda Diaspora meeting in Paris-France in September.

"The French Kungfu master who attended Rwanda Diaspora meeting was so interested by the meeting and decided to offer two scholarships to the Rwandan government,” reads part of the statement.

Three months ago, Saatenang went around Africa in search of talented young athletes to whom he would soon make them a gift of new life.

Saatenang is a French national from Cameroon, Champion of Kungfu and is the first African and first black devoted member of the Shaolin Temple.

He is also known to Chinese as Bruce Lee of Africa or Shifu Shi Yan in the Temple of Shaolin. Saatenang negotiated to offer 10 Scholarships from the spiritual leader of the Shaolin Temple, Abbot Shi Yon Xin.

The two Rwandans join other nationals from Cameroon and Gabon to study a five-year course of sports medicine in the fascinating and prestigious Shaolin Temple.

Two more countries will join the training in February 2012, shortly after the Chinese New Year.

A documentary about young African Shaolin is currently in production and will be broadcasted in 2012 on TV channels in Africa.
