The government has set aside Rwf30 million to put up a Genocide memorial site in Karama Sector of Huye District.

According to the Executive Secretary of Karama, Frederic Sebarinda, the site is scheduled for completion before April 2012

"We hope to start construction very soon”, he said, without hinting on the actual date.

"We owe respect to those killed during the Genocide. Keeping their bodies in a simple grave is lack of honour to them. The site will play a very important role in the process of healing the broken hearts of survivors,” he stated.
