The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture has appealed to members of the public to utilise the ongoing Culture Week to learn more about the Rwandan culture through several planned activities.

This call was sounded by Lauren Makuza, the Director of Cultural Promotion Unit in the ministry.

The week-long events began on Sunday.

"People should take this chance to revisit the works of art and the beauty of our culture because it has always been said that Rwandans know little about their culture,” he said.

The culture week aims at promoting Rwandan cultural values and devising means of sustaining it.

Promotional events to be conducted countrywide include talk shows in the media and at institutions of higher learning, which will be conducted by selected experts on Rwandan culture.

A free arts exhibition, which was officially opened yesterday will be also be open daily to members of the public at "Petit Stade” Remera, Kigali.

The public is also free to visit the Culture Lab, a chamber that keeps pieces of cultural art, at the Amahoro National Stadium, according to Makuza.

The culture week, which will be observed annually, will be included on the ministry’s calendar
