Minister urges Rulindo residents to join SACCOs

The Minister in the President’s Office, who also doubles as the overseer of Rulindo District, Venancie Tugireyezu, has advised residents of Burega Sector to capitalise on the Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) to alleviate poverty. She made the call during the launch of Imbaduko Sacco last Sunday. The minister told residents that the scheme was introduced to improve their economic welfare.

Twagirayezu called on Gicumbi residents to embrace a savings culture.

The Minister in the President’s Office, who also doubles as the overseer of Rulindo District, Venancie Tugireyezu, has advised residents of Burega Sector to capitalise on the Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) to alleviate poverty.

She made the call during the launch of Imbaduko Sacco last Sunday. The minister told residents that the scheme was introduced to improve their economic welfare.

"In order to improve your standards of living, you should cooperate with financial institutions like these Saccos,’’ Tugireyezu advised.

"It is part of government’s effort to deepen and broaden the financial sector, and to mobilise and allocate resources to address the development needs of the economy’.’

Imbaduko Sacco, which started in 2010, currently has 3,877 members with savings of over Rwf 98 million.

Meanwhile, another Sacco was officially launched in Manyagiro Sector, Gicumbi District over the weekend,.

The Agashya Sacco is composed of 1700 members and has, so far, received savings valued at over Rwf 4.2 million.
