Miss Earth 2008, the 8th world beauty pageant, will be held in the November in China this year. Over 90 contestants are expected enter the final round of the competition.

At the conclusion of the final night of competition, outgoing titleholder Miss Earth 2007, Jessica Nicole Trisko of Canada, will crown her successor.

Rwanda’s five most beautiful will head to Nairobi along with other East African applicants in August where two ladies will be chosen to represent East Africa in Beijing.

Miss Earth is an annual international female beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.

Along with Miss Universe and Miss World contests, Miss Earth is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national level competitions to participate in the world finals.

The reigning titleholders dedicate their year to promote environmental projects and to address issues concerning the environment.
