Children’s fashion has come a long way from simply being about pageboy and flower girl outfits. Like adults, children’s fashion industry follows seasons and trends on the international fashion scene.

Today, children’s clothing industry is growing rapidly. Fashion houses around the world are turning their attention to much smaller sizes.

But while we all want our children to look neat and tidy is it practical to be following latest fashions?

You’d be surprised by the number of Rwandan parents attracted by international winter fashions, leaving their little ones cooking in the African sun!

We all want our children to look good, to stand out in a crowd and do us proud. Below are some tips on how to dress you kids.

For the girls

Bright colours and floral patterns are girly and fun. Sun dresses suit all ages. While denim is hard wearing and always fashionable and it’s not just limited to trousers; denim skirts are a must for every little lady’s wardrobe! Team with simple t-shirts, sandals or boots for rainy days.

For the boys

Havana style shirts with their jeans, casual T-shirts with shorts are cool and comfortable. Suits and ties can make even the naughtiest of boys look respectable.

Thinking practically

Little ones

Babies are messy. Normally, babies have many accidents so you will need to buy clothes that are easy to clean. If you use strong colours instead of pastels, they will not soil or stain as easily.
Simply think about keeping your baby comfortable and war.

Growing up

Look for outfits that will make them more comfortable and encourage the toddler to be independent with clothes that they themselves can put on and take off.

Remember toddlers have a tendency to get themselves in messy situations. Look for clothes that are durable and easy to wash. Buy clothes that are easy to put on and take off, so your toddler can learn to dress himself.
