RWAMAGANA- The Governor Western Province Celestin Kabahizi, and the outgoing Governor of Eastern Province Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Addressing officials from the two provinces who had come to witness the occasion in Rwamagana, Kabahizi said that there were some important socio-economic issues in the MoU.

He added that it was imperative for the peoples of the two provinces to create a good relationship, adding that Rwandans should not only think of foreign relations.

"It is encouraging that we agreed to work together...we earmarked housing, land consolidation, agriculture and farming as areas that will offer us great lessons. Western Province is not as good as Eastern in the three areas,” he said.

Kirabo said that it was time for the two provinces to start serious business, adding that the agreement was in line with principles which guide the Local Government family.

"The MoU is a landmark in the economic blossoming of the two provinces. It will be easier for our people to do business amongst themselves. Local leaders will hitherto, facilitate them along the way,” she said.

Thomas Rwagasana, the Chairman of the Public Sector Federation in the Eastern Province, said that the agreement will help businesspersons in the province to improve their hotel business.

"It is evident that Western province is doing well in hotel business, than Eastern province. I will push my colleagues in the business sector to take lessons, so as to improve in that area,” he said.
