ASSISTANT captain Haruna Niyonzima has joined Amavubi team training camp ahead of the first leg of the preliminary round 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier match against Eritrea scheduled to be played on November 11 in Asmara.

Haruna, who has been pivotal for Tanzanian giant Yanga in their brilliant start to the season, jetted into the country Friday night and had his first training session with his team mates under new coach Sredejovic Milutin Micho on Saturday.

The former Etincelles and APR midfielder, one of the most experienced members of the Amavubi Stars, joins the likes of Kalisa Mao, Charles Mwesigye Tibingana and Andrew Buteera as the latest arrivals in camp.

AS Cannes striker Elias Uzamukunda is expected to joins camp on Monday after playing his club’s second division league match against Mont de Marsan tonight.

Rwanda plays away to Eritrea next Friday before hosting them in Kigali four days later. Micho’s team need a win from the two-legged encounter to progress to the second qualification round where they will meet Benin, Algeria and Mali in a four-team group.

Apart from the Eritrea game, Rwanda is also preparing for the forthcoming Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup which is set for November 24-December 10 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania before a busy schedule in preparation for the 2013 Africa Nations’ Cup qualifier were they have drawn Nigeria in the second round.
