Over 60 golfers have lined up for the inaugural Ecobank golf tournament that gets underway this afternoon at Kigali Golf Club.
According to Marcel Byusa, the Kigali Golf Club captain, the 18-hole event will roll off with a short-gun tee-off at midday.
"It is their first major involvement in Rwandan sports and they have come in strong. This tournament is part of a long-term relationship between the club and the bank," the KGC president Ezra Bunyenyezi said.
On the other hand, the bank’s managing director Daniel Sackey who is also expected to be part of the action said, "Golf is not new to us. Most of our clients are actively involved in the sport".
"And this is not a one-off. We intend to have a long-term involvement in Golf and Rwandan sport in general," Sackey clarified.
Andrew Nkwandi, one of the winners at last Saturday’s Mutzig monthly mug is one of the golfers pushing for more honors this afternoon.
It is the third competitive event on this year’s KGC calendar after the Fina Bank and Mutzig monthly mugs.
