Spouses should always strive to ensure a peaceful family as it will translate into a peaceful nation.
The Secretary General of Universal Peace Federation (UPF–Rwanda), Francis Makuza, made the remarks during an event organised to end the month-long ‘Family Campaign’ over the weekend.
"When there is peace in a home or family where both parents take on their respective responsibilities, their children are brought up in a proper way hence being shaped into law abiding citizens,” Makuza advised.
He explained that whenever a marriage lacks peace, it easily breaks, adding that in such cases, children are faced with challenges that may lead them into unlawful practices.
"These children will become a problem in their communities and thereafter to the nation as a whole,” he said.
Among the attendants were representatives of the Women Federation for World Peace (WFWP)-Rwanda chapter.
In her speech, WFWP president, Georgette Umubyeyi called upon couples to ensure that their partners do not lose trust in them.
"Among other things, being faithful in a marriage is a major factor for couples to maintain the love, respect and care for each other,” Umubyeyi advised.
She also called upon parents to give their children a chance to be heard, especially in decisions that affect the entire family or the children themselves.
