MUKURA stunned defending champions APR at Kigali Regional Stadium yesterday, Jean Bosco Hakorimana’s first half goal proving the difference between the two sides in a fiery encounter.

It was their first defeat of the season and a real shocker to say the least.

Hakorimana, who joined Mukura in the transfer window from Etincelles, proved his worth with a thunderous strike from 25-yards out to leave APR goalkeeper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye a.k.a Bakame mystified.

Selemani Ndikumana caused Mukura’s back four all sorts of problems but couldnot beat goalkeeper Robert Saaka.

Mid-way through the second half, the Burundian international was unlucky as his strike hit the goal post.

APR captain Olivier Karekezi also wasted three free-kicks and had another effort in stoppage time saved by Saaka.

The win moves Mukura into sixth place with 11 points while APR dropped to second place since Etincelles’ 1-all draw against Police was enough to move them into top place.

In Nyamagabe, Amagaju made the most of home advantage as they thrashed Marines 2-1 while AS Kigali stayed bottom following a 1-all draw against Espoir in Rusizi.

On Saturday, Rayon Sport new signing Bokota Labama Kamana proved his worth as he scored on the 77th minute to secure a point for the blues against Nyanza.

The result leaves Rayon in fifth place with 11 points while Nyanza moved up one place to ninth spot.

Kiyovu are into the top three following yesterday’s 3-2 win over La Jeunesse. The Green baggies are on level points with APR.

The  league has been put on hold to pave way for Amavubi’s preparations ahead of next month’s two-legged 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Eritrea.
