A recent report shows that the number of under-age children still employed in tea and rice farms in Nyamasheke District is on the rise, a practice that is both regrettable and reprehensible. I wish to commend area authorities in their attempts to eliminate the vice. 

Past statistics from the Ministry of Public Service and Labour showed a major drop in child labour but a lot more needs to be done to end the menace once and for all, in all corners of the country.

I think it is important to regularly educate the masses on issues affecting children, which must be a priority for everyone. Let us join hands to ensure that all our children go to school and live a decent life.
