At the beginning of August, Lamborghini revealed a teaser image announcing an extreme supercar for the Frankfurt Motor Show.

A few guesses as to what supercar this could be were instantly thrown out, such as the roadster version of the Aventador or the production version of the Sesto Elemento.

Now we know that this new special edition model is the Lamborghini Gallardo 570-4 Super Trofeo, limited to only 150 units and described as "the most extreme Gallardo ever."

The new range-topper will be built basing on the Gallardo racecar developed for Lamborghini's Blancpain Super Trofeo single-make racing series, borrowing such lightweight features as a carbon-fiber quick-release engine cover and rear spoiler.

The Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale will be powered by the same V10 found in the standard Gallardo Superleggera, delivering a total of 570 HP at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 398 lbs-ft at 6500 rpm.

In racing tradition, the engine will be mated to a robotized egear six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles as standard. This system will shift through its six gears much faster than any human being could. And since this is a "570-4" model, it also comes equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

With a total weight of 2954 lbs and an output of 570 HP, the new special edition will make the with a total weight of 2954 lbs, the new special edition will make the 0 to 90 kph sprint in just 3.4 seconds and to 198 kph in 10.4 seconds, headed up to a top speed of 316 kph.  For speed lovers, there you go!

The new special edition Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale will be offered in an exclusive "Rosso Mars" paint that symbolizes Italy’s traditional racing red and draws from the car’s connection with ultimate race track performance.

This special Rosso Mars paint will be combined with a matte black finish for the large rear spoiler, engine hood, and front air intakes. The forged wheels will also be painted in high-gloss black.

The car can also be ordered in Grigio Telesto and Bianco Monocerus, with the roof painted gloss black. The Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale rides on Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tires 235/35ZR19 in front and 295/30ZR19 in the rear.

The 19-inch forged alloy wheels are painted gloss black.  For maximum stopping power, the car sports oversize vented disc brakes, with eight pots in front and four in the rear. Carbon-ceramic brakes are available as an extra-cost option.

The brake calipers stand out against the black wheels in a bright, fiery red, a first for Lamborghini, but customers can opt for "Grigio Telesto" or "Bianco Monocerus" if the red doesn’t tickle their fancy.

As for the price of this "creature”, your guess is as good as mine, prices for the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale haven’t been announced just yet, but expect the price tag to reflect the fact that only 150 units will be produced. Translation: Pricey; it could be a car for just the luck few!
