EMERY Bayisenge has been named in Amavubi’s provisional 27-man squad for next month’s 2014 Fifa World Cup first leg qualifier against Eritrea.

The central defender missed Amavubi’s last two games because of an ankle injury.

The team, which will be handled by Amavubi’s interim coach Eric Nshimiyimana, enters camp this Sunday.

"I have a lot of belief in this team and I know that we shall be ready for the first leg. The team is a mixture of youth and experience which is an important element at this level,” Nshimiyimana said.

Michele Rusheshangoga and Eric Nsabimana are the other new faces in the team. Other notable names in the side include who Andrew Buteera, Charles Mwesigye Tibingana and Police striker Meddie Kagere, who scored the winner in the final 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Benin in Porto Novo.

Amavubi travel to Asmara for the first leg on November 11 before hosting the Eritreans four days later at Amahoro Stadium.

Nshimiyimana, who did not make the five-man shortlist for the wasps’ job, has been tasked to qualify Rwanda to the group stage of the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers. 

The former APR coach won over Ferwafa’s confidence after guiding the team to a shocking 1-0 away win in Porto Novo. The win came on the back of a humiliating 5-0 home defeat against Ivory Coast.

The winner between Rwanda and Eritrea will join African giants Algeria, Mali and Benin in Group H.

The top team from each of the 10 groups will qualify for the final play-off, and will play on home and away basis to determine the five slots.
In all, 154 matches will be played between November 2011 and November 2013.
