Rwandan international referee Samuel Uwikunda will be in charge of the CAF Champions League Group D clash between Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek and Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh on Friday, March 31.
The game, which will take place at the Cairo International Stadium, will see Uwikunda supported by fellow countrymen Mutuyimana Dieudonné, Ruzindana Nsoro as first and second assistant referees respectively while Burundian Emery Niyigabo will act as the fourth match official.
Uwikunda was on duty last week, as the centre referee for AFCON 2023 Group E qualifying encounter between Madagascar and Central African Republic at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium in Antananarivo, on Thursday, March 23.
He was assisted by Rwandan counterparts Mutuyimana and Ruzindana Nsoro.
Uwikunda is among the best referees in the CECAFA zone having also handled games in the 2021 AFCON in Mauritania and CHAN 2023.
Zamalek sit bottom of Group D in the 2022/23 CAF Champions league with four points whereas Al Merreikh are third with six points. Tunisian giants Esperance lead the table with 10 points followed by Algerian side Belouizidad with nine points.
