NYAGATARE-The Minister of Trade and Industry, Francois Kanimba, has called on the business community in the Eastern Province to invest more in agro-business.
The Minister made the remarks while officially opening the Eastern Province’s mini-exhibition in Nyagatare District.
The trade show, organised by the business community in the province, attracted over 200 exhibitors from within and outside the country.
Kanimba explained that his ministry supports such exhibitions as a way of showcasing the country’s economic level.
"The Ministry supports and will continue to support provincial trade shows. It is our assignment to facilitate the organisation of these events countrywide as a way of assessing the level of our country’s economy,” he said.
The acting Executive Secretary of Private Sector Federation, Yvette Mukarwema, hailed the organisers of the trade show and urged the business community in the province to look beyond borders.
"This trade show is organised in a unique way compared to others elsewhere. But you should aim higher, beyond the country’s borders. For example; entrepreneurs in the province should prepare for the upcoming East African Jua Kali trade show that will be held in Uganda soon,” she urged.
