RUHANGO - Mukingi Secondary School will focus on students discipline and improving education facilities to promote students’ excellence next year.
Salvatore Niyigena, the school headmaster, made the remarks during the end of year celebrations held at the school campus in Byimana sector.
"Emphasising students’ discipline and streamlined administration has improved the students’ excellence compared to the last three years" Niyigaba said.
He noted that during last year’s national exams, 99.2% students passed with only one out of 89 students failing the exams.
The school administration also rewarded 38 best performing students who scored at least 80%.
"Students’ performance has become competitive due to such rewards. We used to reward those who attained 70% and above, now it has been increased because of the changes in the school management and tight competition," Amos Furaha, a former student said.
Parents hailed the school administration for raising the education standards and ensuring a good future for their children through quality education.
The students requested the administration to consider extending classrooms, dormitories, and dining facilities in next year's budget.
" We are determined to be good students and ask that these facilities are put in place to improve our performance," Eric Niyonzima, a head prefect said.
The students also displayed talents in sporting activities, media, acrobatics and music and drama.
The best classes in sporting activities also got cash prizes. The school also celebrated the National Coca-cola under 17 secondary school football trophy acquired in June this year.
