It was quite dismaying to many Rwandans, especially genocide survivors, when U.S based organisation Lantos Foundation announced that Paul Rusesabagina had been selected for this year’s Human Rights Lantos Prize due on November 16.

It is rather dastardly to honour someone of dubious character who has often been accused of close links with FDLR, including financing the rag-tag guerrilla movement and genociadaires who aim to continue their genocide agenda in Rwanda.

It is further an offensive and provocative act as Rusesabagina masquarades as someone who saved the Tutsi during the Genocide yet in actual sense, he seeks his own personal enrichment.

He even depicts a false image of his role in the genocide. How can such a person qualify for such an award? Lantos should think twice and listen to the will of the Rwandan people.
