KIGALI - Microsoft, a leading global software company, yesterday conducted a seminar in Kigali, to showcase the latest generation of products and services designed to improve communication.The seminar dubbed, “Microsoft Open Door” attracted close to 70 local professionals in the IT field to experience and learn from the research that the company uses to develop its software.

The seminar dubbed, "Microsoft Open Door” attracted close to 70 local professionals in the IT field to experience and learn from the research that the company uses to develop its software.
"Open Door events provide a unique opportunity to share our experience with some of the latest Microsoft technologies, platforms and solutions,” said Simon Onyango, the Business Development Manager for Microsoft Rwanda.
"We are inviting local IT professionals and enthusiasts to share our approach to the next generation of computing”.
Some of the software showcased included; Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Microsoft Visio 2010 and Microsoft Project 2010, which help professionals to connect ideas.
Speaking about new software, Microsoft Lync 2010, Onyango said: "It provides a single platform that integrates audio, video and instant messaging. Research estimates that customers can expect a 337 percent return on investment in Lync in just 12 months, based on reductions in the cost of telephone systems, IT labour, as well as travel”.
With an industry-leading annual investment of $9.5 billion globally in research, Microsoft embarked on reaching its technology to African countries, including Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroun, Senegal and Kenya.
