Senate president, Dr. Jean Damascène Ntawukuliryayo, on Monday, met the UK High Commissioner, Ben Llewellyn, to discuss a working framework between the two countries’ parliaments.A statement from parliament says that among the issues discussed includes capacity building programmes for Senate staff, and bills that Parliament is scheduled to pass, including the Media Law and the Law amending the existing law on Genocide ideology.

A statement from parliament says that among the issues discussed includes capacity building programmes for Senate staff, and bills that Parliament is scheduled to pass, including the Media Law and the Law amending the existing law on Genocide ideology.
The UK envoy commended the excellent working relations that characterized the leadership of the previous Senate and United Kingdom and expressed hope that the partnership will be taken to another level.
Ntawukuliryayo said he was confident that he will fulfill his new duties as he has acquired "useful experience” in parliamentary matters during his last three years in the lower Chamber of Deputies.
Prior to his appointment, Ntawukuliryayo was deputy peaker in the lower Chamber of Deputies.
