TWELVE-TIME league champion APR moved to top of the Primus national football league table standings following a 2-0 win over AS Kigali yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium.

Olivier Karekezi and Dan Wagaluka scored the goals to send the military side back to the summit of the league standings with 12 points, two ahead of Etincelles, who beat Marines 2-0 on Saturday.

At Amahoro stadium, Rayon Sports missed the chance to join APR at the top after they were stunned by hosts La Jeunesse 2-1.

La Jeunesse, sponsored by Euro trade international dominated the proceedings and Jean Paul Havugarurema scored a master-piece strike after dribbling past three defenders to net past goalie Juma Mpongo.

Ildebrand Nshuti wasted a couple of good scoring opportunities to extend La Jeunesse lead while Said Abedi Makasi and Cedric Amissi were main culprits for the Blues.

In the second half, Nshuti created one Ahmed Sulaiman, who made no mistake but to net the second goal for the hosts on 72nd minute.

This forced Rayon coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira to bring on Papy Kamanzi for Makasi, after two minutes they snatched a consolation goal from (Cedric) Amissi.

The victory for La Jeunesse earned each player $100 (about Rwf.60, 000) from Euro Trade International Chief Executive Office Martin Kahanovitz who had earlier pledged cash prize a win.

La Jeunesse climbed to fifth position with seven points while Rayon remained on third position with nine points.

SC Kiyovu jumped to sixth position following a 3-1 victory over Amagaju. Skipper Eric Serugaba, Jean Pierre Hakiri and Jean Shyaka scored for the old giants.

On Saturday, Etincelles thrashed Marines 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Silver Ochaya to move to second position with ten points, one ahead of Rayon Sport which is in third spot. Police was forced to a goalless draw away to Mukura to drop on fourth position. 

Espoir secured their first point of the season in four matches played after a one-all draw away to Nyanza in Southern province. Marines are stuck bottom of the standings with no point in four matches played this season.
