Popular throughout Spain but particularly in Andalusia, where it originated from and, the Flamenco festival was for the first time celebrated in Rwanda. Held at Ishyo Arts Centre, last Friday, the festival attracted various people including dignitaries such as the Spanish Ambassador to Rwanda, Juan Manuel Gonzalez de Linares, the IMF Country Representative Dmitry Gershenson, and the head of Tourism and Conservation at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Rica Rwigamba, among others.

The event was filled with everything Flamenco, from dancing and singing to guitar playing. It ran from 7p.m to 9p.m, and guests were treated to a cocktail .
This festival featured dancers, a vocalist and guitarist direct from Spain in a mesmerising display of Flamenco performances.
Flamenco was born as a result of a revolution of a mixture of cultures; Christians, Muslims, Jewish and Egyptians.
