After winning the CAR15s title for a third consecutive time

Silverbacks’ players are set to be handsomely rewarded for retaining the CAR15s title on Friday evening after edging out Burundi 28-3.

Captain Benjamin Makombe, Vincent Kamali and Olivier Nikwigize got the tries for the national side while Ivan Makmot converted one try and scored two penalties in a game that Rwanda dominated much to adulation of the Rwandan fans at the Amahoro stadium.

The Rugby Federation’s Vice President, Alex Araire, told Times Sport that the players had earned themselves big cash rewards for the win.

"I want to salute the players for ensuring that we retain the trophy. The players did a wonderful job of not only winning but doing so in style,”

"So, obviously, we will reward them with cash rewards,” Araire said.

Nikwigize who scored two tries also walked away with the man-of-the-match accolade.

"Both teams were disciplined. I am particularly proud of the Silverbacks’ win. I hope this will take us to a bigger stronger group,” Coach Gerald Nsenga said.

DR Congo, once again, failed to turn up for the tournament for unknown reasons.
