YOUNGSTERS are itching to showcase their talent after learning that the inaugural Sec Academy U-19 football tournament which kicks off this morning at Kigali Regional Stadium has attracted scouts from Europe.Besides hosts Sec Academy, the three-day tournament will also involve Ferwafa, APR, Vision, Esperance, Dream team, Uganda’s Proline Academy and National Youth Talent Academy of Kenya.
YOUNGSTERS are itching to showcase their talent after learning that the inaugural Sec Academy U-19 football tournament which kicks off this morning at Kigali Regional Stadium has attracted scouts from Europe.
Besides hosts Sec Academy, the three-day tournament will also involve Ferwafa, APR, Vision, Esperance, Dream team, Uganda’s Proline Academy and National Youth Talent Academy of Kenya.
Sec Academy owner Augustin Munyandamusta yesterday said that the event which will be held annually, is aimed at unearthing raw talent which can then be traded to Europe for further development.
"After Rwanda’s qualification for this year’s Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico, scouts have developed huge interest in our local football,” he said, before revealing that Patrick Mork (Sweden), Jonsson Joachim, (Sweden), Bjorn Wesstrom: (AIK, Stockholm) Roland Janssen,(Genk, Belgium) and Felix Seghers ( Antwerp FC, Belgium) are some of the scouts who will grace the U-19 tournament.
The teams are divided into two groups and will play for 60 minutes, with a five-minute half-time break.
