AFTER often postponing his trip to the U.S due to a delay to acquire a visa coupled with his university studies, the Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2011, Tom Close, is finally in America to record a song and its video with Sean Kingston.

Tom Close left the country for America on October 11, for a 10-day trip. The Rwandan R&B singer landed himself the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do collaboration with world-renowned singer Sean Kingston, after winning the Primus Guma Guma Superstar 2011 title.

The duo’s collaboration is expected to be produced by J.R. Rotem, who has worked with Rihanna, Rick Ross and the Game. His latest projects include new tracks by Jennifer Lopez, JoJo, Mya, Natasha Bedingfield, Ashley Tisdale and Jesse McCartney, among others.

The 25-year-old singer, who is pursuing a degree in medicine at the National University of Rwanda (NUR), beat nine aspirants in a stiff live music competition to emerge winner.

Tom Close is in the accompany Joseph Mushyoma, the CEO of East African Promoters (EAP), a company that partnered with Bralirwa to organise the Primus Guma Guma competition.

While in the U.S, Tom Close is expected to meet some Rwandan artistes for collaboration deals. The singer went with a number of his DVDs to promote his music on the international level.

Meanwhile, the Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston disappointed his Rwandan fans during his recent concert by performing playback, instead of live music.
