OLIVIER Karekezi is backing Ratomir Dujković to reclaim the Amavubi coaching job, Ostine Arinaitwe reports.

With over 25 coaches in contention, the Amavubi striker who wore the captain’s armband during Sunday’s 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Benin believes the job should be given to the Serbian because of his vast coaching experience.

"There are some very experienced coaches in contention but I feel Rotamir is the ideal candidate because he knows a lot about local football and the national team,” Karekezi said.

Dujkovic is a popular figure in Rwanda’s football history after guiding the country to their first ever Africa Nations Cup back in 2004.

The new coach’s immediate task will be to help Rwanda qualify for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup in South Africa as well as 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The list of candidates for the job is up to 30 and they include; Benin coach Denis Goavec, Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi, former SC Villa, St. George and Al-Hilal coach Mico Milutin Sredojevic (Serbian), Ratomir Dujković, Burundi coach Adel Amrouche , Zoran Djordjevic (Serbian),Tosi Noel (French), Stefano Cusin (Italian), Bahner Siegfried (German),Tom Saintfiet (Belgian), Branco Smiljanic (Serbian), Jean Marie Ntwgabirwa, Antoine Rutsindura, Eric Nshimiyimana, Bordoli Livio (Switzerland) Peter James Butler (British), Roberto Alejandro Rodrigo (Argentinean), Stewart Hall (British), Patrice Neveu (French), Dragoslav Stepanovic (Serbian), Chris Sarramagna (French), Gomes Da Rosa Didier (French), and Tomislav Obradovic (Croatian) ,Manuel Garcia Calderon (Spanish), Zabora Alexander (Ukraine), Jean Claude Maniraguha, Simon Davey (U.K), Abdou Mbarushimana and Yaounde Kanyankole.

The job fell vacant early last month when Sellas Tetteh resigned after a series of disappointing results that included a humiliating 5-0 home defeat to Ivory Coast.
