KICUKIRO - In a move aimed at facilitating schools to incorporate ICT into the curriculum, mobile telephone operator, MTN, has once more donated 36 computers to Kigali city’s Kanombe Secondary School.

As part of giving back to the community, the telecom firm, through its corporate social responsibility arm, MTN Foundation has, so far, donated ICT equipment to five schools countrywide.

The equipment includes  one-year free internet connection.

Speaking during the handover, Zuruphat Mukarubega from MTN Foundation, said that the donation would help improve the quality of education and enable students to compete favourably in the job market.

"You cannot prepare the future of our country without improving the quality of education and the quality needs of technology.”

The head of MTN Foundation, Yvonne Mubiligi said that the selection of beneficiary schools depends on the student population, performance in national examination and the girl-boy ratio in order to support the girl child education.

The school’s head teacher, Jean Baptiste Nsengiyumva thanked MTN for the donation pointing out said the equipment would help teachers and students in research and advance the school’s practical computer lessons.

Seth Rugamba, a Senior Three student at the school said that the computers would enable them to make contacts, carry out research and share knowledge with other students locally and internationally.
