Nyagatare — A house servant was gang raped by three coworkers in Nyagatare yesterday while the family was out of town.

Uwera Shalatin, 21, was busy doing her domestic work when three herdsmen working in the same family scooped her into the house.

 The arrested include Jean Iraguha and Sengiyunva Gasango.

They have been taken to Karangazi police station.

 "These are people living in cowboy lifestyle so when these herdsmen come back home and no one was at home and they resorted to gang rape after wrapping her mouth to avoid her make loud noise,” a police statement read.

Sector executive secretary Emmanuel Murenzi confirmed the rape and said the police were still investigating. 

"The woman refused to go for medical check up but we are trying to convince her to visit the medical personnel but its unfortunate.

The woman refused, saying that it was shameful,” Murenzi said.
