NYAGATARE – Four men are detained at Nyagatare Police Post for allegedly beating a 37-year-old man to death.The incident occured on Monday night in Gitenguhe Cell, Tabagwe Sector of Nyagatare District.Police identified the deceased as Francois Nshimamugabe.The suspects were identified as Eric Musengamana, Moses Mbarushimana, Richard Twagirumwami and Ernest Niyonsenga.

According to area residents, on the fateful night, the deceased was accused of stealing a mattress from his ex-wife’s home.
"He was a notorious thief in the area. He raided his former wife’s home and stole a mattress. On his way, he met some people and tried to fight them but was overwhelmed,” said one of the residents.
The Tabagwe Sector Executive Secretary, Christopher Kabana, confirmed the incident.
"Yes, it’s true that the deceased was attacked while coming from stealing from his ex-wife. But still, no resident is supposed to take the law in their own hands. That’s why they have to face justice,” he said.
